Linwood now Leading in Competition.

ADDINGTON’S EASY WIN. Linwood, by defeating Riccarton this afternoon at Sydenham Park to the tune of 17-7, now lead in the senior League competition. The game was a fast, even struggle. Hornby, who had the _ bye to-day, lie second, one win behind. Addington met Sydenham at Jerrold Street and had an easy win by 24 to 0. POSITIONS or TEAMS. The positions of teams after to-day’s Karnes are as follows:

LINWOOD v. RICCARTON. Linwood <Jrew first blood against Riccarton at Sydenham Park, when Jorgensen followed up a high kick and touched down. lie missed an easy kick. Linwood 3, Riccarton 0. Riccarton lost Muir, full-back, who had to go off with an injured ankle. Jorgensen again missed when he took a penalty in front of the Riccarton posts. Vine took advantage of a chance at the other end, putting over a great kick against the wind. Linwood 3, Riccarton 2. Linwood were awarded two further penalties in handy positions, but Jorgensen and Kelly missed. Although they had a strong wind behind them, Linwood could not cross the Riccarton line and the spell ended: Linwood 3, Riccarton 2. For twenty-five minutes in the second spell play was very even, with Riccarton using the wind. Linwood battled back once or twice, Priest, on the left wing, crossing eventually at the corner. Jorgensen missed the kick. Linwood 6, Riccarton 2. After a wretched exhibition previously, the Linwood backs showed a return to form with a fast rush, from which Lynskey scored. Kelly failed to convert. Linwood 9, Riccarton 2. From a scramble on the Riccarton line Smith scored. Jorgensen put the kick over. Linwood 14, Riccarton 2. Brownie broke away downfield, beat several men and passed to his winger, Murray. He took a doubtful pass well and raced round behind the posts. Vine converted. Linwood 14, Riccarton 7. Fast play took the ball to Riccarton’s line, where Smith scored his second try. Jorgensen missed another easy kick. The game ended with the score: LINWOOD 17 RICCARTON 7 Referee: Mr J. K. Worrall. SYDENHAM v. ADDINGTON. A free kick to Addington enabled Simpson to kick a goal. Falgar, Ward, Brownie and Clegg were associated in a pretty passing rush, the last named scoring. The kick at goal failed. Addington 5, Sydenham 0. Falgar kicked high and Townshend, getting possession, scored in a handy position. Clegg converted. Addington 10, Sydenham 0. Brimble, after a good run. lost the ball over the line, a force resulting. A moment later he received a pass from Townshend and scored. The kick failed. The half-time scores were: Addington 13, Sydenham 0. Sydenham opened the second spell With strong attacks, but a bad pass by Hamberger lost them a sure try. Clegg broke away and passed in to Townshend who scored. Clegg converted. Addington 18, Sydenham 0. Another try to Townshend. making his third, was scored, wide out. Addington 21, Svdenham 0. Addington attacked again, Remi saving by kicking out. Then Brimble scored. The kick failed. Final score:— ADDINGTON 24 SYDENHAM 0 Referee: Mr A. Drury.
