Mr Keith Cox (Wellington) is staying at Warner’s Hotel.

Mr W. D. M’Egan (Sydney) is a guest at the United Service Hotel.

Fathers Green and Bartley arrived from the north this morning. Mr Ben C. Pratt (Christchurch Gas Company’s staff), a patient for the past five months in St George’s Hospital, returned to his home to-day.

Guests staying at the Royal Hotel are Messrs S. Ciller (Kaikoura), H. H. Kitchingham (Greymoutb) and T. E. Brockie (Sydney). Yesterday the Rev A. W. Stuart.was elected secretary of the Baptist Union of Canterbury for the fifth successive year.

Wellington visitors staying at the New City Hotel include Messrs R. JGard, H. Burdekin, R. Angus, J. F. Allison, P. Stephens and H. A. Goodwin.

The Rev J. K. Archer was inducted as president of the Canterbury Auxiliary of the Baptist Union of New Zealand last night by the past president, the Rev B. M. Wilson.

The Rev J. E. Simpson, who has been appointed to the Sydenham Baptist Church, was welcomed by the Rev B. M. Wilson at the Baptist Church conference yesterday. His Honor Mr Justice Frazer (chairman), Messrs T. Jordan (Masterton) and L. Anderton (Auckland), members of the Transport Appeal Board, accompanied by Mr J. A. Gilmour, secretary, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington this morning to hear appeals at Christchurch. The board will go south on Thursday to transact transport business in Dunedin. They are staying at Warner’s HoteL

A vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr T. J. Edmonds was passed at the meeting of the Baptist Union last night. The Rev J. K. Archer, the new president, said that Mr Edmonds was a fine man and a valued citizen, who loved his city and did a lot of kindness in more ways than one. He would always associate Mr Edmonds with one word, and that was " Radiance.’*
