The Australian, Miss Joan Richmond, driving with her partner, Mrs Windsor, ended the first 500 miles of the international motor-car race at Brooklands in fourth place. This is the first time that women have driven in such a race. Earl Howe and Tim Birkin did a solid 102 miles an hour.
