N.Z. NOT TARDY.

Mr Forbes Answers London Crities. OTTAWA CONFERENCE. (Special to the “ Star.") WELLINGTON. June 4. The cabled criticism from England of the Dominions on the ground of tardiness in declaring their intentions with respect to the Ottawa Conference does not apply to New Zealand, according to a brief comment made by the Prime Minister in reply to a question to-day. Mr Forbes said that the New Zealand Government had submitted to the Home authorities an outline of the general lines on which it was prepared to meet the British Government and Dominions. Preparations for the conference were well forward and the Government had been in constant touch with the British Government in regard to the matters which had beep notified for discussion at the conference, and communications were still proceeding. There had been no lack of information on New Zealand’s part in response to the request made by the Home authorities concerning reciprocal trade.
