Series Close Without Any Improvement in Values. MOST PRICES SHOW DECLINE. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received June 4, noon.) LONDON, June 3. At the wool sales 12,635 bales were offered, including 5058 bales from New Zealand, and approximately 4330 bales 1 were sold. New Zealand lots sold as follows: Greas}’ cross-bred—Titirangi (top price 7M), average 53 d. Half-bred—Ahuni (9£d), 83d. Scoured combings—Grav's Hills (17id), 16£d. The total amount catalogued was 94,099 bales, and the amount sold is as follows: Bales. Home 41,500 Continent 35,500 Held over 10,600 The total amount of Australian wool sold was 18,000 bales and New Zealand 35,500. The series closed steady. Compared with April closing prices, Merinos (greasy) were about 7£ per cent lower, scoured combings 5 per cent lower, faulties, short pieces and lambs 10 per cent lower; cross-breds, fine 5 per cent lower, top-making sorts 7V per cent lower, medium and coarse 10 to 15 per cent lower, and slipes 10 to 15 per cent lower. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association have received the following cable from their London office: The wool sales closed to-day in London and as compared with the close of the last series, were more active but no improvement in values. Greasy Merinos 5 to 10 per (“'•nt lower, scoured Merinos 10 per cent lower, fine cross-breds 10 per cent lower, medium cross-breds 15 per cent lower, coarse cross-breds 15 to 20 per cent low r er, sheep’s slipes 7* to 10 per cent lower. Total sold 41,000 to the Home trade, 37,000 to the Continent. Pyne, Gould. Guinness, Ltd., report having received advice from their London agents to the effect that the wcol sales closed firm at a lower level. Comparing prices with April sales, Merino and fine half-bred are id cheaper, and medium and coarse crossbred 3d cheaper. Quotations for greasv are as follows: —56-58, 9£d to 105 d 50-56, Sid to lOd; 48-50, 5d to OH; 46-48, 43d to sid; 44-46. 4d to sd; 40-44, 33d to 43d.
