Bride Wears Unusual Gown of Wool Georgette. lIARTNELL—SHEEN. On Wednesday the marriage was solemnised at St Mary’s Church, Merivale, of Verna Audrey, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Sheen, Christchurch, and Cecil Walter, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. Hartnell, “ The Willows ”, Culverden, North Canterbury. The Yen Archdeacon Taylor performed the ceremony. The organist was Mr Wesley. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming frock of Lido blue wool georgette with an ivoryshaded vestee of broderie Anglaise, finished with tiny inset frills of net. Her hat of blue felt was trimmed with a wreath of white flowers on the right side. She carried an all-white shower bouquet of roses, carnations, heather and orange blossoms. Miss Marcia Sheen, who attended her sister as bridesmaid, wore a smart wool suit of dark brown with a blouse of pale pink georgette and lace. Her brown felt hat was trimmed with a pink feather mount. She carried a bouquet of carnations, roses and myrtle in shades of pink. Mr A. M. Hartnell, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held at the Hotel. Federal, where the bride’s mother, Mrs Sheen, received the guests, numbering about fifty, in the lounge, which was beautifully decorated with bronze chrysanthemums, palms and delphiniums. She was wearing a black and white ensemble -with a musquash coat and a black felt hat, and carried a bouquet of winter irises and heather in shades of mauve and pink. The mother of the bridegroom wore a frock of beige georgette and lace with a fur necklet and a hat to tone. Red roses and carnations formed her bouquet.

When Mr and Mrs Hartnell left on their wedding tour the bride was wearing a short coat of brown suede with a pleated skirt to match, and a jumper in shades of fawn and orange. Her hat was of brown felt, and she carried a fur coat. BRIGGS—PARKER. The wedding took place at St Faith’s, New Brighton, on Wednesday evening last, of Sylvia, daughter of Mr and Mrs S. Parker, Jubilee Avenue, and Eric, son of Mrs Briggs, of Berry Street. The bride was given away by her father. Mr Maurice Briggs, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev T. M. Curnow, and Mrs Curnow presided at the organ. SEWELL—FERGUSON. . (Special to the " Star.") GREYMOUTII, June 3. A wedding of considerable interest was solemnised at St John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, this afternoon, -when Maud, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Ferguson, Kumara Junction, was married to Oliver, eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. Sewell, Mayfield, Canterbury. The Rev H. R, Fell officiated.

The bride wore a charming frock of ivory transparent velvet, cut on classical lines, the skirt falling in graceful folds from a hip yoke to the ankles. The bodice was finished with a short bolero coatee with puffed sleeves. Her beautiful embroidered veil, held in place by dainty sprays of orange blossom, fell to form a train, and she carried a sheaf of lilies and roses. Miss Maisie Ferguson (chief), sister of the bride, Miss Elsie Sewell, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Bel Le Compte (Christchurch) attended the bride, wearing similar ankle-length frocks of shell pink, primrose and green georgette and lace respectively. Their frocks were fashioned -with Vyoked bodices inlet with lace, and the skirts were finished with deep flounces of lace and tiny frills. They wore short panne velvet coatees to tone, and quaint halo caps of silver tissue and lace. Each carried a bouquet of delicately shaded freesias and carnations. Ruvee Hewison, a tiny flower girl, in cream georgette, and Peter Sewell, in cream satin, also attended the bride. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Michael, as best man, and Messrs J. Sewell and B. Ferguson as groomsmen. Later a reception was held at Herb Moore’s, where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a model frock of nigger-brown crepe satin over which was worn a smart short coat of broad tail. She wore a small brown hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of autumn tinted flowers. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a frock of black georgette relieved with white, and wore a smart bo-wler hat. She carried a bouquet of red carnations and roses. When Mr and Mrs O. Sewell left for their future home, Parnassus, the bride travelled in a smart brown marcella crepe frock. She wore a coat of brown diagonal cloth with musquash collar and a smart brown Robin Hood hat.
