JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.
Members of Association Attend Social.
A pleasant evening was spent by members of the Canterbury Justices of the Peace Association and lady friends at. a patriotic social held in the Masonic Hall last evening. The president (Mr A. H. Hobbs) was in the chair, and a talk on “England and the Empire" was given by Mr C. E. Jones. A programme of musical and elocutionary items was contributed by the following:—Songs, Miss Chamberlain, Miss Betty Simpson, Miss Kathleen Chappie and Mrs C. J- Goode: humorous recitations, Miss Daisy Armstrong; pianoforte solo, Miss Betty Simpson. Miss Stella Osborne was accompanist. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs H. Holland, Mr C. E.
