Competition Reaches Seventh Round. SYDENHAM BEAT REDCDIFFS. The Canterbury Hockey Association’s seventh round of matches was played this afternoon. The opening stages were fairly evenly contested, but both teams were hitting a little too hard. A free hit to Redcliffs in the circle made them dangerous, a corner resulting. T. Prebble’s shot was a good one. but went wide. Sydenham had a spell on attack. A shot by Duffield resulted in a twentyfive. Yuill stopped a shot from Thompson on the right for RedcltfTs. Sydenhad- forced a corner, Lloyd’s shot going behind. A penalty corner was awarded Redcliffs after they had attacked strongly, Sydenham breaking through. Yuill failed to kick the ball. It rolled in, but was hit from outside the circle. From a scramble round the Redcliffs goal Duffield netted with a neat shot. Sydenham 1, Redcliffs 0. E. Prebble got through on his own to the Sydenham goal, but lost control of the ball. Halftime was called with the score: Sydenham 3, Redcliffs 0. Lnngridge put across a good centre to his inside forwards, who could not get to it in time. A breach relieved for Sydenham, h penalty corner being awarded RedclifTs. The Sydenham forwards got going nicely, and Rusbridge finished off the movement w-ith a good goal. Sydenham 2, Redcliffs 0. Sydenham kept up the attack and forced several corners. Time was called after a penalty corner to Redcliffs had been taken, without result. Final score: • SYDENHAM . 2 REDCLIFFS 0 Referees: Messrs E. Harvey and W. H. Down.
