MOTORING THRILLS.
Australian Girl Drives Brilliantly. ONE FATALITY FOLLOWS SKID. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received June 4, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 3. Soon after an Eastbourne master butcher named Keeson had been killed by his car skidding and overturning in the 1000-mile race at Brooklands, Sir Malcolm Campbell had a narrow escape, his car skidding and a tyre igniting. Then the Australian driver. Joan Richmond, at the spot where Keeson was killed, skidded when doing eighty miles an hour. The car swung round thrice up the embankment, but the driver recovered in a brilliant manner and continued unperturbed. She celebrated her escape with a dazzling burst of speed, regaining second position behind Riley, her team mate, after 141 laps.
