Three-div. Totalisator.

To the Editor. ' Dear Sir,—l am surprised that the betting public should be so simple as to swallow a three-dividend totalisator which, for one thing, increases the fractions by at least 50 per cent, and also deprives those who have backed a winner from getting a fair return for their investment. A 50, 30, 20 percentage pay-out, in any case, is useless to anyone. More than a sixth comes off for taxes, and 20 per cent of the remainder reduces the amount available for distribution on the third horse to a sixth or less of the original total on the machine. Far better would it be to run a straight-out machine: at least such a machine should be available for those who want it, in addition to the three-dividend machine.—l am, etc - HOW MANY BEANS?
