COMPENSATION CLAIM.

Per Press Association. GISBORNE, October 27. The Arbitration Court was engaged to-day in hearing a claim for compensation made by the administrators of the estate of Paul Christensen Nissen, mill manager, deceased, ! against Trevor Thomas and Donald Victor Thomas, owners of a sawmill at Tuai. The claim is for £IOOO compensation and £3O medical expenses, it being alleged that N*issen’s death was due to a strain received in the course of his work. Mr W. J. Hunter (Christchurch) appeared for defendants. After hearing evidence the Court held that Nissen's death was not due to accident, but that the accident caused an injury which would have incapacitated him. Plaintiffs, therefore, were entitled to judgment for compensation from August 4, 1930, to the date of death at the rate of £4 a week, a total of £ll6, with costs.
