P. AND T. REUNION.

The seventh annual reunion of members of the North Canterbury section of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association, held at the Winter Garden last evening, was one of the most successful that has ever been held here. Mr A. Robertson presided over a large attendance. In proposing the toast of “ The Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association,” Mr E. .T. Howard. M.P.. said that the spirit of the service counted for more than the administration. He marvelled at the organisation and efficiency of the service. It was one of the few Governmental Departments that paid its way. The toast was responded to by Mr C. J. Smefiton. assistant Dominion secretary of the association. The Deputy-Mayor (the Rev J. KArcher), who proposed the toast of “The Post and Telegraph Department,” said that the city of Christchurch was excellently served by the Department. In responding Mr F. J. Shanks. Chief Postmaster, said that the Christchurch reunion was the best organised in the Dominion. He reminded officers that tbe generous things that had been said of them imposed an obligation to live up to them. He paid a tribute to the loyalty of the staff under the trying conditions of the last twelve months.
