DELEGATES WELCOMED.
; Methodist Womens* Missionary Union. The annual conference of the Methodist Women’s Missionary Union of New Zealand opened yesterday afternoon in the Durham Street Methodist Schoolroom. Mrs G. Bowron (Cashmere Hills) presided over a large attendance of delegates from the various circuits in the Dominion. The conference will conclude on Friday. The meeting opened with a hymn and a reading by the Rev M. A. Rugby Pratt, who led the conference in prayer. The Rev A. N. Scotter, district chairman, briefly welcomed delegates, paying a tribute to the work of the women members of the church. The Rev P. Knight, minister of the* Durham Street Methodist Church, also extended a welcome, a reply on behalf of delegates being made by Mrs Liggins (Thames). Greetings were later conveyed to delegates by members of other women’s unions. An opening address was given by the Rev W. A. Sinclair. The conference continue this morning and afternoon and a social will be held in the evening at 7.45. Morning and afternoon sessions will also be held, to-morrow, and on Friday.
