SITUATION IN THE WOOL MARKETS UNCHANGED (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received June 22, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, June 21. Mr W. Devereux, representative of tha Woolgrowers’ Council, reports that tha general situation in most cf the wool markets is unchanged. There is some inquiry for Merino tops in Yorkshire, although there is little business, any new transactions being on a slightly lower basis. The position of cross-bred tops and Merino and cross-bred yarn is unchanged. Quotations are somewhat lower. The possibility of trouble in connection with the proposals for lowering wages is prominent in the minds of all engaged in the trade. The Bradford and French textile strike continues, and business is largely at a standstill. Stocks of tops are being reduced, but raw wool is accumulating. It remains to be seen to what extent the operatives will avail themselves of the opportunity to return to work when the) mills reopen on June 22. STOCK EXCHANGE. CHRISTCHURCH.
