DISASTER AVERTED BY CLEVER HANDLING.

PILOT BRINGS ’PLANE OUT OF DEADLY SPIN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 22. .Clever handling of a Moth ’plane by Pilot F. C. Taylor averted disaster at the Taieri Aerodrome yesterday. Taylor was stunting at a height of 2000 feet when his engine cut out .and the large number of spectators were horrified to see the ’plane hurtle earthwards in a spin. Tragedy seemed certain but, at a height estimated variously at from 200 to 400 feet, Taylor regained control, making a perfect landing on a dead stick. “I am very proud of Taylor and told him so when he landed,” said the Otago Club pilot, Flying-Officer Olsen. Taylor was one of the first eight A certificated pilots trained by Mr Olsen.
