A BUSY ARTIST.

Oh dear,” sighed Jack Frost, “ is it time to get up already? ” Just a few minutes after he had said these words he was up and making his freezing powder. When he went out on to the first green lawn he found David Dew already there. “ Ha, Ha,” laughed Jack Frost, “ David is waiting to be frozen.” “ Indeed I am not,” was the unexpected reply, but before he could say any more Jack Frost had thrown some of his powder on him, and he was frozen white. As he went from one house to another he remembered his paints. He hurried back and returned with a beautiful box of paint. At once he began painting pictures on the windows, which were quite cold. After he had finished his good work he heard someone coming along the road. “ Ha, ha, he will soon sit down,” chuckled Jack Frost. There was a puddle near by, and as quick as lightning he threw some of his powder on- it and turned it to ice, which was very slippery, and the boy fell down with a bump. “Phew! How did that happen? ” gasped the boy. Then feeling around he felt the ice. “ I did not know that there was ice already,” the boy was heard to say. It was about 12 p.m. when this occurred. Jack Frost had been up a tree painting pictures on its branches, and had come down just in time to see the boy turn the corner. Then he threw some of his powder into the gutter and it, too, was frozen. In the next house there were plenty of leaking pipes which could be frozen. The next morning there was a very severe frosj;, which was sixteen degrees, but Sammy Sun had chased Jack Frost to his home under the pond. Eric Holland, St Albans.
