ST JOHN AMBULANCE COMMITTEE MEETS.
The General Committee of the St John Ambulance Association met last evening; present: Dr J. R. Thomas (chairman), Mrs A. Bishop. Bishop Brodie, Lieut.-Colonel F. B. Creswell, Dr Borrie, Messrs J. Wallace. H. L. Bowker, C. Buchanan, A. T. Hoddinott, I’. H. Taylor, J. Dickson, C. W. Hervey, G. Peek and F. Rudd. Apologies were received from Sir Heaton Rhodes, Messrs A. M’Gillivray, L. W. Wilson, Colonel Dawson and Major J. W. CrampThe financial statement showed receipts to be £263 31s 4d and credit balance at the bank of £3 37 19s sd, Expenditure wan £303 16s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £97 34s 7d. Accounts amounting to £79 16s Sd were passed for payment. The ambulance transport calls report for the month of May showed 141 calls costing the association £43 4s 3d, less donations £7 9s 3d. Tt was reported that, except for some minor repairs needing to be done to the two ambulances, they were in good order. The mileage done by the No. 1 ambulance was 190 miles and by the No. 2 ambulance 3 070 miles, some of the mileage of the latter being done by the loan ambulance. The chairman reported on the result cf the deputation which waited on the City Council Finance Committee, and said that they had received a sympathetic hearing, but they could not do anything at present. The matter would receive their consideration. Letters of thanks and appreciation were received from Mrs Meredith-Kaye, the Marist Football Club and Mr J. E. Purchase (principal of the Teachers' Training College).
