INTRUDER WAS SEEN IN HOUSE.
BRIGHTON RESIDENT DISTURBS A BURGLAR.
Considerable daring was shown by a burglar who visited the residence of Mrs E. Paul, 45, Bligh Street, South Brighton, on Monday afternoon. 'I he owner returned after a five, minutes absence from the place, at a time when the intruder was ransacking the drawers. He made good his escape, but Mrs Paul was able to give his description to the police. Nothing was taken. Returning after visiting a neighbour. Mrs Paul heard a noise in one of the ( bedrooms. On going to investigate, the i door was suddenly shut in her face. A few moments later the door opened and a man with a hand over his face rushed out. Mrs Paul attempted to get outside to call assistance, but she was held by the wrist and prevented from doing so. She then called out for help and the burglar made off. He was seen by a passer-by to make off on a bicycle in the direction of central New Brighton. Earlier in the afternoon a man was seen standing in the street opposite Mrs Paul’s house.
