HINTS TO BATHERS.

(Written for the “Star” by “Beltman”).

Incoming tides to-morrow will be approximately from 4.40 a.m. till 10.50 a.m. and 5 p.m. till 11.15 p.m. With the hot weather coming on, bathers will no doubt be feeling the effects of sunburn, and the following hints should prove useful. Although it is best to enjoy the sun only for short periods until the skin has become brown and hardened, on a good day one is tempted to make the most of it and put up with the consequences. A light smearing of olive or coronut oil before bathing will do a lot towards preventing the skin from blistering, but the best relief known to “Beltman” is a hot shower or bath (warmed gradually, of course), or if this is not available, sufficient extra bed clothes to cause a good perspiration.
