HOCKEY.
AFFAIRS DISCUSSED BY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening; present—Messrs L. L. Smith (chairman), R. A. Campbell, H. R. Sampson, H. W. Rogers, J. Pascoe, H. Snook, I. Davey, V. Hahn, L. Ward, A. Graham, L. Gower, E. W. Bradley, J. Hitchen, G. Graham and H. M. Lamb. The City Council wrote intimating that in future no hockey or football would be allowed on the city reserves after the end of August. The Redcliffs Club wrote withdrawing a portion of a letter which had been considered objectionable by last year’s committee. The New Zealand Association forwarded a copy of its annual report and stated that the annual meeting would be held on April 24. A discussion took place upon J;he advisability of supporting a visit from an Australian team this season. The matter was held over till next meeting with the object of ascertaining the views of the Rugby Union as regards the use of Lancaster Park and a suitable date. Messrs W. Williamson and H. R. Sampson were appointed as a deputation to wait upon the Rugby Union. The following sub-committees were appointed;—Grounds: Messrs A. Mahoney, V. Hahn, G. Graham, H. Snook, H. Rogers and W. Bradley. Judiciary: Messrs W. Williamson, li. A. Campbell, L. Byers and J. Pascoe. Finance: Messrs L. Byers, H. R. Sampson, L. Gower and H. M. Lamb. Permits: Messrs J. Pascoe, A. L. Graham, L. Gower and H. M. Lamb. Competitions: Messrs J. Pascoe, G. Graham, J. Hitchen and V. Hahn. Emergency: Messrs H. R. Sampson, L. L. Smith and R. A. Campbell. Special rules: Messrs .T. Pascoe, A. L. Graham, L. Gower, J. Hitchen and H. Rogers. Social: Messrs H. Snook, W. Bradley, H. R. Sampson and A. Graham. Schools: Messrs L. A. Ward, A. Mahoney and C. Rogers. Tournament: Messrs H. Lamb and W. Bradley. It was decided to commence the competitions on April 20, and to close entries on Monday, April 15 at 5 p.m. It was decided to draw the attention of clubs to the Necessity of forwarding registration fees with their entries, as. otherwise it may be necessary to refuse It was decided to authorise the schools committee, to purchase the sticks necessary for primary schools hockey.
