The monthly meeting of the Beckenham School Committee was held on Monday evening, all members being present. The headmaster reported an average attendance of 509 for the month. It was also reported that the dental nurse had returned to the school and that she was at present attending to the Somerfield Street school children. The vacancy caused by Miss R. Foster’s transfer to Sydenham is being temporarily filled by Miss Saunders and the board's recommendation that the permanent substitute be Miss Banner, of Auckland, was approved. Mr Peters will conduct the choir until May 1, and it was decided to approach Mr Williamson with a view to obtaining his services after that date. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £9O 7s 2d. Steps were taken to arrange for the usual Anzac Day ceremony at the school.
