J. S. RYDER MAKES BIG SCORE IN MATCH VICTORIA V. N.S.W.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, December 25. In a Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales Victoria has lost six wickets for 338. Five wire down for 162. Ryder scored 175 before being caught and bowled by Andrews. A’Beckett is not out with 103. New South Wales is without Oldfield and Victoria is without Woodfull and Blackie. DOUBLE CENTURY TO KIPPAX. MELBOURNE, December 25. The Sheffield Shield game was continued to-day. Victoria in the first innings made 376 (a’Beckett 113). Everett took one for 91, Kelleway one for 53, Nicholls two for 41, Hooker three for 110, Andrews two for 49, and Fairfax one for 30. New South Wales in the first innings have lost nine for 367 (Andrews 33, Kippax 221 not out, Hooker 51 not out). Hooker joined Kippax when the latter was twenty-two and played the rock for four hours while his partner put on 199, a tenth wicket record for inter-State cricket. Ironmonger and Hendry were the most effective bowlers, each dismissing three or four men.—Australian Press Association. SOUTH AUSTRALIA V. QUEENSLAND. ADELAIDE, December 25. In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland South Australia in the first innings made 496 for eight wickets (V. Richardson 115, Harris 183, Hack not out 61). The Queensland bowling was completely collared. Richardson and Harris broke the record for a first wicket partnership for South Australia in Shield games by 66 runs. It was formerly held by A. J.
