KING SEES HIMSELF IN TALKING PICTURE.
‘(Special to the "Star.") LONDON, September 20. The King saw himself in a talkingfilm at Balmoral Castle last night, It was the British phonofilm “Trooping the Colour." in which the King and the Prince of “'ales appeared. and it was the first cinema show at the Castle this autumn. “'ith the King were the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. ("harlie Chaplin's latest film, “The Circus." was also shown. this being the first time the King and Queen had. seen Chaplin in- his new production. “Trooping the Colour" was pre-l sented by British Talking Pictures. Ltd. and it gave the King his first experience of a sound picture. The King, with the Prince of \Vales and members of his suite. was phono—filmed while reviewing the troops on the Horse Guarrls' Parade at \Vhitehall. Sound effects were obtained from the words of command during the ceremony, and from the music pro—vided by the massed bands of the Guards. To curnply with the Royal command British Talking Pictures adapted the ballroom for the purpose of a cinema. The phonofilm projector and loud speaker were installed:
