“ WOULD NOT SUPPRESS NAME IF I COULD ! ”
MAGISTRATE FINES YOUTHS FOR BEING IN HOTEL AFTER HOURS. Eighteen and twenty were the ages of two youths, John Edward Kennedy and Eric Albert Leary, who were caught in the Forrester’s Arms Hotel after hours on March 13, and faced charges in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. Both pleaded guilty. An official from the Y.M.C.A. pleaded for Leary. “ He stammers badlv, sir,” the official said to Mr E. D. Mosley. S.M. “ I plead guilty for him. He married lately on no prospects, and wants to ask you to suppress his name.” The Magistrate: “ I have no power to suppress it, an dif I had. I would not exercise it. This is no cose of sudden temptation.” “How old are you, Kenned)'?” he asked. “ Eighteen, sir.” “Eighteen, and do you drink?” ‘ I went to see Mrs Dobson, sir. Apart from that I have nothing to say.” The Magistrate .however, had; and what he said was: “Ten shillings and costs each!”
