BILLIE DOVE STARS AT CRYSTAL PALACE.
Miss Billie Dove's infinite charm is the principal feature of the latest First National picture. “ American Beauty.” at the Crystal Palace. Comedy and pathos are intermingled in it, and under the surface is a study of human character in some of its diversities; but this element in the, story is treated lightly, in order not to make it heavy and too obviously instructive. Intended to amuse, it succeeds completely. filling in an hour or so most enjoyably. For all this, or most of it, the public are indebted to Miss Billie Dove. She is well known to patrons of the pictures. She has been a star for a fairly long time, and she is not a variable one; she shines consistently in all her pictures. in comedy and drama alike. Something of the same type of picture is the second big feature at Crystal Palace, “ The Count of Ten. ’ That is to say, it also deals with the love affairs of a young couple in ordinary circles of society. The gazettes at Crystal Palace have not been given as much praise as they deserve. They are exceptionally interesting. The Symphony Orchestra is ably conducted by Mr A. J. Bunz.
