HOCKEY.
ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION HELD. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Association was held last evening. Mr L. L. Smith presiding over an attendance of thirty delegates. The annual report and balance-sheet showed that the past season had been a most successful one, but there had been a decline of one in the number of affiliated clubs. However, there had been an increase of eleven teams entered in the competitions, which had been very successful. Selwyn had won the senior competition for the tenth successive season with 10i points, Technical A being second with 9 points. Sydenham A won the junior competition with \2h points, with Wharenui 12 points second. The third grade was won by Sydenham A. Technical A had won the fourth grade, and Redcliffs A had won the primary schools A grade, and West Christchurch the B grade. The Technical Club won the Grey shield for the third successive season. The statements of receipts and expenditure showed that there was a credit balance of £l3 17s 7d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr 11. Holland, M.P.; president. Mr W. Williamson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs L. L. Smith, W. A. Stead. R. Campbell and IT. M. Lamb: honorary treasurer, Mr 11. R. Sampson; honorary secretary, Mr J. H. Williamson; delegates to N.Z.11.A.. Messrs C. Bellamy and C. C. Holland; honorary auditor, Mr C. C. Holland; executive committee, Messrs V. Hahn, J. Hitchen, A. Mahoney, J. Pascoe. 11. Snook. J. 11. Williamson, A. L. Graham, G. Graham and R. Thompson. It was decided to approach the N.Z.IT.A. for assistance in promoting a hockey week in connection with the jubilee celebrations. In connection with the control of hockey in primary schools it was decided to convene a meeting of parents, school masters and others interested for the purpose of forming a committee for the control of primary schools hockey. The abolition of shield tournaments in favour of the old challenge system was discussed, and it was decided to support the reversion to challenge shield matches. Mr J. Pascoe was appointed selector for a team to tour the West Coast at Easter. REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Canterbury Hockey Referees’ Association was held on Monday evening. Mr IT. Throp presiding over an attendance of thirteen members. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr 11. Throp; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs C. Bellamy, W. A. Stead and E. Harvey; honorary secretary, Mr V. Hahn; honorary treasurer, Mr 11. R. Sampson; honorary auditor, Mr L. L. Smith; emergency committee, Messrs H. Throp, H. Rogers and R. Gracie; examination committee, Messrs H. Throp, C. Bellamy and IT. Rogers; appointment committee, Messrs C. Bellamy and H. Rogers; delegate to C.H.A., Mr W. A. Stead.
