AUSTRALIANS PLAY DRAWN GAME WITH NORTH OTAGO TEAM.

Per Press Association. O AMARU. February 23. The match Australia v. North Otago was resumed to-day in overcast threatening weather. No rain fell. The wicket and outfield were in good condition. The attendance was good. The Australians forced the pace, carrying their total to 448 before the side was dismissed. Oxenham gave a solid display for 169. Kippax played an outstanding innings for 76. North Otago made a vastly improv ed showing in the second innings, scoring 268 for six wickets. Zimmerman gave a dashing display for 117 undefeated, his total including sixteen fours and five sixes. The Wanganui-Manawatu match for the Hawke Cup had an unexpected end to-day, when the visitors made 345 in the second innings against 166 in the first strike, leaving Wanganui 187 to get to retain the trophy. This they failed to do, scoring only 141. a very poor showing compared with the 325 knocked up in the first innings. The cup now goes to Palmerston North. TRANSFER OF PLAYERS. The County Cricket Advisory Committee adopted an addition to Rule 11 of the county rules, which reads: “ A British Dominion or State shall for the purposes of this rule be regarded as a county.” The addition was made after obtaining the consent of the overseas governing bodies. Rule 11 reads: A cricketer who is engaged by or has played for a county and wishes to qualify for another county must obtain a written consent from the former county before commencing residence in the latter. Ilis residential qualification shall not commence to run until such consent has been given, but such consent shall not be withheld unreasonably. A county wishing to engage a cricketer who is engaged by or has played for another county tnust give written notice to the latter before commencing negotiations with the cricketer. A cricketer who wishes to play for the county of his birth must give notice 1o the county for which he has played under a residential county if he intends to leave it.
