BIG PRODUCTION, “WHAT PRICE GLORY,” AT GRAND THEATRE.
Other pictures have treated of the horrors of war or have dealt mainly with its humorous side, but few, if any, have handled the subject in the way in which it is handled In “What Price Glory?” which is being screened at the Grand Theatre. It seems to get right to the heart of the matter, for H treats with war from the point of view of the man who is taking part in it, and only those who have had actual experience of modern warfare can understand what a wealth of tragedy and horror is covered by that term. But the story also has its humorous side. Victor M’Laglen in the role of Captain Flagg is magnificent, and as Sergeant Quirt Edmund Lowe does the best work of his distinguished career. Dolores del Rio as the French girl is also excellent, and the other leading parts are filled by equally capable artists. Before the screening of “What Price Glory?” Mr Dave M’Gill sings “Carnival” and “Little French Baby," and during the screening of the picture appropriate music is played by the orchestra.
