DRIVER AND PASSENGER BURNT AT BROOKLANDS. I LONDON, June 2. j In the presence of thousands of spectators a motor car burst into' flames on Brooklands track On Satur- j day. It was during the six hours’ endur- * ance race for sports cars organised by \ the Essex Motor Club. Mr E. Laurence Meeson, in a Vauxhall coupe, was the first to get away. But on the bend above the members’ bridge his car burst into flames, which shot high into the air. Mr Bye-Rawson, who was with Mr Meeson, was severely burned as he jumped from the car, and both men were treated at hospital. Major Segrave, making his first appearance on the racing track since i hi* established the world’s record at Dayton, found himself disqualified; after he had taken the lead.
