DANCE AT OTAHUNA.

The employees on Sir R. Heaton Rhodes’s estate at Otahuna gave a dance on Thursday evening to celebrate the opening of the new wool shed. The dance was held in the storing room of the building, which was decorated with chrysanthemums, and oak and laurel festoons. There was a very large attendance of residents from the surrounding district, and a number of visitors from town. Sir Heaton and Lady Rhodes, with Miss Hines, were present. Mr F. Smith’s band was in attendance and dancing was kept | up until late. Mr J. Jones made an efficient M.C. The lucky spot dances were won by Miss Moisier and Mr J. Lancaster, and Miss T M’LfMi«rH''n Mr E. Tobeck. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Air Dowker ana Alioo Dowker. Songs were sung by Airs J H. Al’Kenzie, Aliss H. Jones, and Alessrs D. Suckling and Creuse, Aliss Suckling acting as accompanist. After supper Air Nairn, on behalf of the guests, proposed a vote of thanks to the employees of the estate for their hospitality, which was carried. Air Al’Laughlan replied. A vote of thanks was carried to Sir Heaton and Lady Rhodes for the loan of the building, and Sir Heaton replied.
