In the Assembly, Mr Hill, amid cheers from both sides of the House, asked Mr Lang if he had noticed the degrading tendency in a section of the metropolitan Press; if he thought that competitions such as “ Miss Australia ” and “ October Bride ” and a thousand others with which they were threatened, had an uplifting tendency; if he was aware that this new journalism was being introduced in the interests of commericalism; and if it -were not possible to take action to restore clean and healthy journalism. Mr Lang replied that he would give every consideration to the questions.
