In a scheduled fifteen-round bout, Albeit Rogers (12st OJffi) beat Charlie Ring (list 01b). It wJs a rough fight throughout with a good deal of holding and in the fifth Rogers was warned for butting with his head. The Englishman took the lead from the start and in the second round sent Ring down with a smashing right hook for a count of seven. On rising Ring met a shower of blows. His right eye was badly cut and bled during the remainder of the fight. Rogers continued to get the best of matters. The Australian was badly battered but fought with the utmost gameness until the towel was thrown in in the eighth round.
