BROTHERS FINED FOR FIGHTING IN STREET.
WOULD HAVE MADE MINCEMEAT OF HIM, DECLARES ELDER. Both bore the scars and scratches of ■war as they stood side by side in the dock at the Magistrate's Court to-day two brothers from New Brighton. Under the tousled hair of each were dozens of scratches and slight discolouration*. and the elder carried a bandaged hand. They made their appearance as a result of Constable Ilislip's interference in a tight which was being waged about seven o'clock or. Saturday night, and. from the nature of the scars on each it was apparent the Marquis of Queensberry s rules were waived for the occasion. The brothers were Samuel Mark Beumleburg, aged twenty-seven, and Godfrej* Walford Beumleburg, aged twenty-three, and each was charged with fighting in a public place. Hawke Street, New Brighton. There was a further charge of drunkenness against Beumleburg the elder. < onstable Hislop said that when he arrested the brothers Mark was drunk and said: “ I’d soon make mincemeat out of the young fellow if I were sober.** Mr H. V. Widdowson, S M ' He was sober enough to say that. I suppose it was a straight-out fight? Constable Hislop said the subject of the fracas was a motor-car. The elder Beumleburg denied that he was drunk. Each was fined 20s for fighting and Mark, the elder, 10s for drunkenness, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonKe&U
