Sir Harry Lauder, speaking iff Birmingham a few weeks ago, said he owed everything to enthusiasm. There were only four things worth enthusing over —God, work, home and a kindly neighbour of the garden wall. The annual report of the committee of the Nurse Maude Association for the year ending March 31, 192 G, states that subscriptions and contributions amounting to £7OB 19s were received during the year. This was an increase of £250 over the previous year- During the year 12,131 visits were made to various patients, and 1958 calls for treatment were made at the association’s office. Nurse Maude states in the report: “ The work of the year has gone on steadily. There has been a decrease in the demands for attention at the office, and the visits paid have been about a thousand less than last year, which speaks well for the health of the community. Although the visits paid have been actually less, the work has been just as heavy, owing to the number of bed cases being attended. The out-patients’ department serves a very good purpose, many small ailments being treated, and many men and women who have been suffering from ulcerated legs have been completely cured, adding much to the comfort of their lives.” With great sorrow the report records the death of Nurse Mahon, one of the association's staff, -who rendered very valuable service to the sick poor.
