! A certain Greyinouth man'is not likeiy to ask advice from horse trainers in the future when he contemplates purchasing a racehorse. About two months ago he was offered a certain well-known horse for £250, and decided to purchase it. On his way to the Post Office to wire -his acceptance of the offer, he met a prominent horse trainer, to whom he mentioned the matter. The trainer, probably in good faith, strongly advised the prospective purchaser to leave the animal alone, as it was no good. The Greymouth man acted upon the advice. A few weeks later the animal won a six furlongs race at Avondale in good time, annexing a stake of £3OO, and a few days later annexed a similar stake in good company at Ellerslie. The animal has since been offered for sale for £looo. “ Grey River Argus.”
