CROWDED WITH ALL THE GOOD THINGS OF MUSICAL COMEDY.

“ PRIMROSE ” COMMENCES AT THEATRE ROYAL SATURDAY. On Saturday next at the Theatre Royal J. C. Williamson will present their highly popular musical comedy company in " Primrose,” a musical play that has been phenomenally successful in London, and more recently in Australia. In this big attraction Miss Margery Hicklin will make her first appearance here. Miss Ilicklin is a distinguished English comedienne who will play " Joan." the part she created in London. Of “ Primrose ” a prominent critic writes:— “ Primrose ” is crowded with all thp good things of musical comedy. There is more than the usual helping of

dancing, and all of it has a quality and refreshing appeal which is rare. It is due to the efforts of Reita Nugent and !• red M’Kav. Although the fun is contributed by nearly everybody, the frolicsome George Gee must be given the credit for a deal of it. As a callow youth who adopts countless devices and disguises to elude the determined clutches of a beauty specialist, he supplies as much genuine humour as he always does. Margery Hicklin, as Joan Falls, a pretty girl who becomes entangled in the disturbing web of love with a young novelist, is fascinating, and her voice has a wonderful sympathetic charm. In the role of the beautv specialist. Dnrothv Lena is vivacious and entertaining, and Levland Hodgson. as the novelist, is highly satisfying, y 11 .. J ac ’k ( annot plays Michael to the life, another excellent performance IS that of Marie le Varde as Ladv Sophia. Altogether. " Primrose ” is a bright show, full of spirit and colour, beautiful girls and happy songs, and fragrant with the indefinable enchantment of all good musical comedies.

The box plan for the season of five wghts is now open at The Bristol.
