SECOND ROUND. Yesterday matches were continued in the secondary schools’ Rugby football competition, the second round of games being played in the weight limit grades. The first round also took place in the fourth grade. On the whole the play was of a better standard than in lost week’s games, some of the matches being very keenly fought out. Details FOURTH GRADE. At a meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union, the Nelson Union wrote asking for all available information regarding tho expenses and gale proportion for a tour of the Seddon Shield district by an Otago representative team. The secretary was instructed to offer 40 per cent of the net gate. Tt was decided to invite the Southland Union to send a senior representative team to the West Coast this seaIn referebco to the Star Club’s senior default last Saturday, it was decided to severely censure the club on its failure to fulfil its obligation. Delegates from the Star Club gave an explanation of their failure to place a team in the field. They reported being now in a position to put ip a strong senior team l'or future fixtures during the season. The Hokitika Sub-Union nominated a senior team for the competition. THE LEAGUE GAME. MEETING OF CANTERBURY CENTRE. A meeting of delegates to the Canterbury Rugby Deague centre was held ‘ last night. The president, Mr T. B. Carpenter, presided. It was decided write to the Auckland Deague regarding the transfer t.o the Hornby Club of two players, Wil-son-Hall and Mason. As second delegate from Canterbury to tho New Zealand Deague, it was resolved t.o ask Mr Swlnnerton. of Auckland, if he would he prepared to act. The donations were received with thanks. The head master of the East Chrlstchureh School wrote nominating a team for the schools competition. The Lyttelton Club wrote entering a team in the junior competition. The Y'illa Club wrote withdrawing their Senior B team from the compet it ion. The Match Committee recommended that senior clubs having a surplus of players should assist weaker clubs by a transfer of players, also that the Rangers-Lyttelton match to be played on Saturday should be a competition match. The recommendations were agreed to. The Classification Committee reported that it had received a letter from the St Albans Club relative to the regularity of the transfer of certain players of that club. On the motion of Mr Fb.od seconded by Mr Scott-Ramsay, the Jotter was referred back to the St Albans Club for further information. A Sunnyside player appeared before the committee to answer a charge of striking an opposing player in the Sun-nvside-Villa match on Saturday last. It was decided to suspend the player for six weeks. It was decided that the other player concerned be summoned before the committee and that be be suspended in the meantime. TL was decided that the Sunnyside Club be permitted to play their matches on their own ground, excepting finals and semi-finals. The secretary’s report on the business of the New Zealand Football Association’s annual meeting was held over until next week.
