It was recently stated that a snapper, believed to be a record m size, was taken in a trawl in Auckland waters. This fish weighed 19£lb. In regard to fish it is a risky matter to talk positively of records; however, a Seatoun (Wellington! the other day took a snapper that will stand as the biggest fish cf C? kind until someone comes along with authentic information of a bigger. This amateur fisherman was spearing ter butter fish at the Pinnacle, rock, when the snapper swam within his reach. lie made a lunge at it. and speared it. and took it into his boat. It weighed 21Mb, measured 3ft iin from snout to tail, and was 29iin round in the widest part.
