FAREWELL PARTY.
An enjoyable party was held lantync’s yesterday Afternoon, when Airs W. J. Hunter and Airs Algar Williams entertained the members of the Council of the Guild of St Anne in honour of the secretary, Mrs H. S. E. Turner, who is leaving by the Corinthic for a visit to England. Airs Hunter presented the guest of honour with a bouquet of beautiful red roses. An apology was received from his Lordship the Bishop. Dean Carrington, in a delightful little speech, paid a tribute to the excellent work done by Mrs Turner, and on behalf of the council wished her a happy trip and a speedy return. Sir Francis Boys also spoke appreciatively of Airs Turner’s work, and on behalf of the council presented her with an old Maori pendant of tangiwai greenstone. Mrs Turner, in her reply, said it was always a .pleasure to her to do what she could on behalf of the Guild. Those present were: Air and Airs 11. S. E. Turner, the Very Rev Dean Carrington. Mrs Roberts, Mr Hogg, Aliss O. MTlwraith, Airs J. B. Batchelor, Airs Hcrvcy, Miss Overton, Sir Francis Boys, Archdeacon Taylor, the Rev 11. O. Hanby, Mr S. E. M’Carthy, and Dr Irving.
