MAYOR ARRANGES DAY’S OUTING FOR VISITING CHILDREN.

A party of school-children from Pongaroa in the Pahiatua district, who have been visiting the Dunedin Exhibition will arrive here from the south this evening. They will spend the night at the People’s Palace. The Mayor. (Mr J. K. Archer) has arranged a days’ outing for them to-morrow. Mr Hawkes. of the Canterbury Automobile Association, has been approached and at 9.15 in the morning the children will go on a motor tour of the city, visiting its beauty spots and places of historical interest. They will Canterbury College. the museum, the waterworks, Aulsebrooks’ and the gardens. They will be the guests of the Mayor at morning tea at the Kiosk. In the afternoon free tramway transport is being arranged for the children to visit either Sumner or New Brighton.
