ST PATRICK’S DAY FALLS FLAT IN HONOLULU.

(Special to the “Star.”) HONOLULU, March 26. Although St Patrick’s Day was duly celebrated by the sons of Erin here this year, a sad note entered into the festivities. That was the fact that on the large Honolulu police force there are only five Irish “cops.” This made it impossible to put on a real parade. One Scotchman in the detective bureau tried to pose as an Irishman, saying he had been born in Ireland, but he could not pass the necessary requirements. So, not enough Irish—no parade. The Honolulu police force is composed mostly of native Hawaiians, who consider the ukulele and the steel guitar more fitting musical insliruments than the Irish harp.
