HON W. P. REEVES BACK, AFTER THIRTY YEARS.

LIBERALISM AT HOME UNDER DISCUSSION. AUCKLAND, November 0. The lion William Pcmber Reeves returned by the Niagara to-day after an absence of thirty years, lie expressed keen delight at being back home, and at the evidences of progress in the city. Mr Reeves does not consider the outlook of English Liberalism bright. The party's leadership lacks popularity, and Its policy lacks definiteness. INI any of the leaders are chiefly occupied in denouncing Socialism, and people say they might as well leave that to the Conservatives. At the last election many rich Liberals voted with Mr Baldwin to keep Labour out at .nil costs, while a considerable number of the younger and poorer Liberals have gone over to Labour. Mr Reeves will remain in the Dominion for five months, going to Dunedin for the opening of the Exhibition in a day or two.
