HIGH SEAS COME ABOARD

STEAMER BATTERED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 27. The Danish steamer Sierra Morena encountered very rough weather and a heavy gale on Thursday last. High seas continually came aboard. They wrenched the rudder and broke the chain of the wheel gear. The steamer drifted helplessly for an hour and a quarter. Repairs enabled her to resume the voyage. The chief officer, Johnsen, was thrown on deck. His left foot was injured, and he was incapacitated for the rest of the trip.
