The chairman expressed regret at the ter for discussion had been deferred from the annual meeting. He moved: (a) That the North Canterbury section, recognising Mr Combes worth and ability, and believhe an asset to Parliament, extends him cordial good wishes for success at the forthcoming general election: (b) that. Mr be* retained in the meantime. Should he be successful in gaining political honours in December next the position to be duly advertised, and bis successor to be appointed by the Executive Committee; (e.i that the 112 dais accumulated leave bo sible. Tiiis section is of opinion, however. that any such accumulation of leave is wholly undesirable, and strongly urges the Executive Committee to guard against, any repetition of the same iu the future. (d) that, the section, recognising that the association consists of approximately 8000 members with widely differing opinions on matters political and otherwise is stiouglye adverse to the use of “The Katipo" for* party propaganda, and advises the exei'u%., live accordingly. The .motion was seconded by Mr J. The chairman said that regarding the remarks made by the Wellington Association in respect of Mr Combs, he thought the North Canterbury section should dissociate itself from them. Mr S. T>. Turner said there was no doubt that the Wellington Association was wrong in slating Mr Combs as it had done. Section “ a ” was carried unanimously. Section “ b ' was then considered. After carried, as also was section “ c." Section “ d '' was then put to the meeting. and carried.
