MEAT WAR.

JUMP IN ARGENTINE PRICES. CONFLICT AMONG HEADS. 'by Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney “ Sun ” Cable. (Received May 4, 10.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 3. The directors of the English and Dutch Meat Company, referring to the sharp fall in the company’s shares and debentures, explain that the conflict among the leading interests in the meat trade has caused such a rise in Argentine cattle that it is impossible to ship Argentine meat to Europe without considerable loss. The company was not participating in the conflict, and was reducing shipments to a minimum, but would resume as soon as the conditions were normal, which could not be long delayed.
