CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL.
OPENED IN THE NORTH. TE KUITJ, May The Piopio consolidated school was officially opened by the Minister of Education to-day. The Minister said that the school was an attempt to bring to the country as good as education as the big cities enjoyed. He urged that transport costs should be kept as low as possible, because on them the success or failure of the consolidation scheme largely depended, lie stressed the advantage of the svtem, which brought the children together and gave a wider outlook oi education of a standard possible in the small country schools. The cost of education was high, but the most important work was the best. The complete public works policy would fall to the ground if there was not a cultivated and intelligent population to go with it.
