Running at Los Angeles, Nurmi broke a thirty-year-old record for a mile and a half which he ran in Gmin 42 2-ssee, four seconds better than that of Tommy Coneff. Nurmi also bettered the one and a quarter mile and the 200 U yards world’s in *Wi!lie Plant. United States walking champion, made a new world’s record for 2500 metres, doing the distance in 10min 38sec. The former record- was 10 minutes 47sec, made by Frigerio. in
