MR ARCHER’S VOTE LOWERED ON RECOUNT. WHO’LL BE SIXTEENTH MAN ? The recount of votes lor candidates f ;r the Mayoralty, completed last night, has reduced Mr Archer's majority from 1116 to 1021 over Mr Flesher. The result of the election, officially is:— J. K. Archer . . 9071 J. W. Bean land . 4363 J. A. Flesher . . ‘>oso J. Hamlet . . . 1142 Informal . . 319 Total votes cast . 22.945 COUNCIL ELECTION. A large .staff. numbering between twenty and thirty, is busy to-day checking the rolls and making a recount of votes for members of the City Council. The workers are using one of the committee room -• in the Municipal Chambers. It is still doubtful whether Mr W. J. Sim, Citizens' Association candidate, or Mr G. T. Owen, Labour, has been elected to the Council. The recount of these votes will be continued to-day. It may be completed fairly late to-night. in that case the name of the sixteenth councillor will be officially announced then.
