At a meeting of the executive of the South Canterbury Farmers’ Union the chairman reported he had attended the election of the Meat Producers’ Board, and the retiring members had been re-elected. With regard to meat going from Otago to Canterbury and being branded as Canterbury meat, it had been agreed that nothing could be done to prevent this. So far the wheat-marketing scheme could not function, the main reason being finance ; another reason was that it required the support of 75 per cent of the farmers.
