The Minister of Justice refused the request of the temperance deputation to take steps to eliminate the compensation clause from the proposed prohibition legislation. The Minister said that if prohibition was a good thing, it was worth paying for. Hotelkeepers were entitled to compensation the same as any others whose business was disturbed.
